Playlist #10 - Boris Bergmann : "We always need French Touch in the middle of a playlist"
16 Sep 2016
Déserteur, Boris Bergmann’s new novel, is out since the 17th of August. Lover of records, this 24 years-old parisian reveals his playlist. It’s hip, funky, jazzy… Most of all, it’s completely happy..
1. Bibi Den's Tshibayi - The Best Ambiance
To start this playlist with a smile on your face. Equilateral triangle.
Nothing more to say.
2. Lena Horne&Gabor Szabo - Rocky Raccoon
A Beatles' cover in a soul-jazz way with the best musicians at the time.
Rocky Raccoon lives again.
3. Aretha Franklin - Rocksteady
The best of Aretha. Impossible not to dance.
It's highly recommended to listen more than once.
4. Usha Uthup - Chhupke Kaun Aya
UMichael Jackson, Bollywood style: an unhoped for mix of senses. Recommended for all the "synesthesics" out there craving for wild spices.
5. Billy Ocean - Nights (Feel Like Gettin' Down)
When winter comes, when it's cold outside, when no one is burning to go out.
We slouch into the couches of boredom.
This tune helps everyone find the faith again.
6. NSI - Gadé sa ki ka passé dote koté
The forgotten chorus of the West Indies.
From the cover - yellow - to the girl's voice - obviously pretty - nothing is out of tune.
7. Rabo De Saia – Ripa Na Xulipa
Rio always answers when it comes to find legal way to shake your booty.
A hymn for all lost dancers.
8. Demon - You Are My High
You always need a French Touch lullaby in the middle of a playlist,
like a keystone to join the worlds.
9. Siouxsie And The Banshees - Spellbound
Find the animal in you. Run in the woods, silently, not to get caught. You don't have a choice.
This song is a really intimate hunt.
10. The B-52's - Mesopotamia
The B-52's teach us a lesson in post-punk geography.
Good thing we weren't listening the first time...
11. Bon Voyage Organization - Love Soup
Geography still, the Bon Voyage Organisation knows the hidden and mysterious paths to help one walk alone. We love to get lost in there.
12. Mary Moor - Pretty Day
To find hope again, Mary Moor gives us relationship advices.
I personally prefer the end of orgasms, to the beginning of excuses.
13. You Don't Know Me - Caetano Veloso
Post-breakup nostalgia : the Prince Caetano helps us to hang in there.
Especially when Gal Costa comes in at the chorus. Divine.
14. Etienne Daho - Le Grand Sommeil
A classic from Daho. When he wore sailor's shirts, rhythm box, and night that lasts all your life.
15. Gérard Manset - Lumières
A last hot tune before the end.
The Lights from the poet Manset.
To go with dignity, I think.
Summary of Déserteur (1) : Who's behind the "I" of this diary? A young hacker looking for his way, in a scorched France who's just declared war to the caliphate. Because of his love distress, he decides to join the army. He's soon in charge of programming the drones who fly above our wars, "clinically" searching through them. He's sent on a mission on a military base in the Middle East, where he meets young soldiers whose energy is crushed by inactivity. The drones now fight instead of them. "I", ostracized, taps infinitely the defense of a country which de-humanized the fight to better kill.
